Skopelos Dive Center participated in the Sea & Tourism Expo, held at MEC Paiania in Athens, presenting modern digital experiences developed around diving tourism and Underwater Cultural Heritage within the framework of European initiatives.
During the exhibition, visitors had the opportunity to experience the Augmented Reality (AR) leaflet and the Virtual Reality (VR) diving experience of the modern shipwreck “CHRISTOFOROS”, one of Skopelos’ important underwater points of interest. Through a specially designed application for mobile phones and tablets, as well as through a VR headset available at the Skopelos Dive Center stand, the public discovered how new technologies can transform simple information material into a vivid, interactive, and educational experience.
These applications are developed within the framework of the D.I.V.E. project, which is implemented with the support of the fuTOURiSME project and funded by the European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA). The project aims to enhance the diving tourism experience by combining physical promotional tools with digital technologies, making underwater destinations more accessible, attractive, and educational for divers, visitors, pupils, students, and the wider public.
EnaliaTec participates in the D.I.V.E. project as an external partner, undertaking the technical implementation and development of the digital application. Through its expertise in interactive applications, immersive technologies, and digital solutions for the marine and cultural sectors, EnaliaTec contributes to the creation of the AR and VR experiences that bring the “CHRISTOFOROS” shipwreck to life and support the digital promotion of Skopelos as a diving destination.
In parallel, other projects in which Skopelos Dive Center participates, such as BCThubs and iScubaDiving, were also presented, highlighting how innovation, digital technology, and sustainable approaches can contribute to the protection, interpretation, and promotion of Underwater Cultural Heritage and diving destinations.
The presence of D.I.V.E. at the Sea & Tourism Expo provided an important opportunity to showcase the connection between diving tourism, digital innovation, and underwater cultural experiences, confirming the role of new technologies in creating more accessible and engaging experiences for the public.
